- Mike Carr with his globetrottin' Ltg Bug

"Hi Jill, Yes I made it home just fine last night, much easier drive without all the traffic that I encountered on the drive down. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated, and very generous. Thanks!
So after making the over 300 mile round trip to the "rancho" and back home with the bass I was dog tired. I had a bite, then had planned to go to bed, and then play the new bass in the morning. But I just had to give it a quick try before calling it a night. Once I began I couldn't put it down until 4: 00 AM in the morning! Feels great and sounds wonderful. I'm quite confident that my new Lightning Bug will be of great service to me in Hong Kong, and on many more traveling gigs in the future. The figured top that Steve added is beautiful and and is the perfect complement to the black ebony board. The bass is set up very well, and I've found that all the notes throughout its full range sing out as they should and in an uncannily "natural" manner, very impressive for a solid bodied EUB. Steve has really nailed it, in terms of getting the fingerboard's "scoop" just right. The notes remain good and fat, yet I can still get plenty of "mwah" and sustain if I want it. I wouldn't change a thing about the bass's fingerboard, it allows for a big sound but with comfortable string height, it's perfect for me! Thank you for a wonderful bass."

- Victor Miranda with his Ltg Bug

"We just spoke to you on the phone...and we're still amazed, elated, very content...I know Victor is overjoyed! Thanks again for such craftsmanship and skill, it's beautiful!"
and later ...
"Hi Azola, I haven't forgotten you. I have been busy. I just finished a tour with AL Dimeola. The whole group is happy with the sound of the Ltg Bug, especially Al. He loves the strong clear sound. In general, it's brilliant, as well as very versatile for the different styles and genres that I like to play.I hope you're well.I keep in touch. Take care." Victor Miranda Bass player Al Dimeola

- Mario Leal with his Ltd Edition Gypsy

"The Gypsy is thumping really well (better than I expected). I tried it in different settings and rooms and it has not failed in its "thumpness". Everyone loved it, and they can't believe how something that small can produce a sound so huge. The bass is super light, and it doesn't kill my back when carried for long periods of time. It took some time to get used to, and when I switch (between 34 and 41.5" scale), it feels a bit weird, but "Still" (my BugBass - named after STeve + jILL : ) is still my baby. I know I've thanked you enough times, but I have to keep saying and writing it because my basses are the best things I've ever had in my life. You guys are the best and I really do consider you my IDOLS. Please stop bringing in new models or I'm gonna have to sell my car to buy another one.
PS Coincidentally the person I play with in a jazz band was talking to another bass player about how great the Azola basses are, and he just had to have one. He is left-handed, and I think he called you guys about it. I'm telling you, everybody wants one."

The Baby looked great on stage and everyone is really impressed by the bass!
Zarandea is going just great. WeŽll go to Paris in July and have gigs all summer. We are really excited of the future : ) Just wanted you to know that IŽm VERY satisfied!!!!"

- Pat Mattison with his Bug

"Steve and Jill, Hello! I've been meaning to write so here it is. I just wanted to let you know how much I love this bass! When I first got it, I could see it was going to be a challenge (not having played upright before)but it's been a very fun one. I figured that I would use it for a few songs a gig but I'm using it for all but about 3 songs. The other guys in the band love the sound and I've gotten several comments from listeners about the 'cool bass'. Anyway just wanted to sing the praises of Steve's work. It's a beauty to look at too. The more I play the BugBass II, the more I love it. I keep forgetting to send a picture. We have a gig in a couple of weeks. I'll be sure to bring a camera and have my wife get a picture to send.
PS We played a gig in Altadena a couple weeks ago with Berkely Hart from your neck of the woods. Jeff Berkley recognised the bass and said he was a friend of yours."

- Dave Sturt in UK with his LB

Dave S. in England about his solid-body Ltg Bug -
"Hi Jill and Steve, I am in proud possession of a fine Azola Lightning Bug! The Bax people were very helpful and delivered it in one piece.
It's a beautiful work of art - I could just stare at it - or I may just stay up all night and play!
Oh - and my 8 year old daughter loves the cardboard packing box - she has a new den!
Thanks for a wonderful instrument."

- Andy Allen visits Rancho Bajo with his used Bug II

"Hi Jill & Steve, I did my first recording session last Sunday with the BugBass. It was with a Latin Quartet (not the larger latin band I usually play with) and went very well. The bass sounded awesome - I damped the strings with a small towel at the bridge and with minimal eq it was right there with that 'latin sound.' Made me look very good - almost as if I knew what I was doing : ) "
